Call For Art
Stories of Self-Portraiture is an exhibition based on the idea that we are who we are because of how and where we were brought up. The foundation of what makes each of us unique individuals is often defined by our home, family, neighborhood, community, culture, education, memories, etc.
Inspired by the psychological/theoretical debate of nature vs. nurture: nurture refers to personal experiences, inferring that behavior/personality is learned and that our environment strongly affects us. Our personal experiences include the influence of external factors, the product of exposure, life experiences, and learning on an individual.
This exhibition will encourage the sharing of personal stories, memories, and experiences through the frame of self-portraiture as an intimate self reflection.
